Customers in Colorado have access to some of the best incentives available for PV systems and Xcel Energy is leading the way among utilities offering rebates. If you are an Xcel Energy customer, you could get a check back from Xcel for more then half of the final system cost! Rebates vary among other utilities, but most offer some form of incentive. In addition to a utility rebate, there is a Federal tax incentive of 30% of the final system cost which is capped at $2,000 for residential customers until January 1, 2009 at which time the cap will be lifted extending residential applications the full 30% tax credit. The following table demonstrates how rebates and incentives affect the Total Installed Cost of a PV system. Also shown are the annual savings in dollars and CO 2 emissions.
